• Warner Home Video has officially announced a 1-disc DVD, a 2-disc Director’s Cut DVD, and a 2-disc Director’s Cut Blu-ray release of Watchmen. Each will be available to own from the 28th July. As far as we know, no extra material will be included on the 1-disc DVD release. The 2-disc DVD will include a The Phenomenon: The Comic that Changed Comics featurette, 30 minutes of Video Journals, a My Chemical Romance Desolation Row music video, and a digital copy of the theatrical version. The Blu-ray release will include all of that, along with 2 additional featurettes ("Real Super Heroes, Real Vigilantes", "Mechanics: Technologies of a Fantastic World"), 30 minutes of Watchmen Focus Points, and a Warner Bros. Maximum Movie Mode.

Early details have emerged on DVD and Blu-ray releases of The International which stars Clive Owen and Naomi Watts. Each will be available to own from the 9th June. Extras on the DVD will include an audio commentary with Director Tom Tykwer and Writer Eric Singer, 4 featurettes (”The Making of The International”, “Shooting at the Guggenheim”, “The Autostadt”, “The Architecture of The International”) and deleted scenes. The Blu-ray release will include all that, along with a digital copy of the film, and a picture-in-picture track with behind the scenes footage, interviews, and location shots.

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has announced DVD and Blu-ray releases of [b]Lost: Season 5[/b] which stars Matthew Fox and Evangeline Lilly. Each will be available to own from the 8th December. As well as including all 17 episodes of the season, the 5-disc sets will be packed with deleted scenes, exclusive interviews, as well as Blu-ray exclusive content.

Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 will arrive in 2010. In conjunction with these releases, Destino, the unfinished animated feature film created by Walt Disney and famed surrealist painter Salvador Dali will release. Begun in 1946, it was rediscovered in 2003 and completed by Walt’s nephew, Roy E. Disney. The collaboration between these two legendary artists will be available to own for the first time along with an all-new feature-length documentary that examines the surprising partnership between Dali and Disney.

Beauty and the Beast will arrive in Fall/Autumn 2010.

Warner Home Video have announced the US Blu-ray Disc release of The Ultimate Matrix Collection on 14th October 2008. A 7-disc set, exact content is TBC though we expect it to match the HD DVD equivalent.

Already confirmed is The Animatrix in 1080P this time around (the HD DVD set just threw in the standard definition DVD), and a digital copy of The Matrix is to be included. The latter would account for the DVD5 listed as part of the disc configuration. Also listed in use are BD50 and DVD9 discs, so it would appear that at least some of the bonus content will be presented on DVD discs. As the images below show, you can also expect a booklet.

The first giganto film of the summer has been given a DVD release date, according to Video Business, and if all goes accordingly it looks like you’ll be able to enjoy Iron Man in the comforts of your own living room (legally) on September 30.

There have been numerous rumors floating around the Internet regarding the Iron Man sequel. Below, we’ve summarized a series of possible spoilers for the movie:

• Jon Favreau planned Iron Man as the first in a trilogy.
• According to MTV Movie Blogs, Favreau believes the sequel will explore darker story elements, such as alcoholism, which he intentionally set aside from the first film.
• Wikipedia quotes Robert Downey Jr. as saying: “The next one is about what do you do with the rest of your life once you’ve completely changed. I think the drinking and all that stuff would be a good way to confront his age, to confront his doubts, to confront the fact that maybe Pepper gets a boyfriend.”
• Terrence Howard has said his character would become War Machine in the sequel, just like in the comics: “Judging from how that audience responded, we got a pretty good shot of having some War Machine go down.”

Paramount has announced  The Godfather: The Coppola Restoration Collection which includes fully restored editions of Godfather Part I and II and a newly remastered version of The Godfather Part III.

The 5-disc collection will include all of the features of the previously released collection, along with a 5th disc of bonus material. This will include multiple featurettes (Godfather World, The Masterpiece That Almost Wasn’t, …when the shooting stopped, Emulsional Rescue Revealing The Godfather, The Godfather on the Red Carpet), and four short films on The Godfather (The Godfather vs. The Godfather, Part II, Cannoli, Riffing on the Riffing, Clemenza).

Also available from the 23rd September will be a Blu-ray release of the collection. The 4-disc set will be presented in 1080p high definition with English 5.1 Dolby TrueHD, and English Mono tracks (except The Godfather: Part III). All of the above extra material will be included, with many of the features also being presented in HD.
